Sunday, March 26 12:30 pm: Guided 3 Mile HIKE "Moonshine and Still Search" at Stone Mountain 

Meet at Garden Creek Baptist Church parking lot inside Stone Mountain Park. See what a real still looked like back in the 1940s, 50s and 60s. (Not what you see on TV or the movies). Note that much of this hike is “off trail.” Guide will recount stories told by local moonshiners and revenuers. There have been over 150 still sites GPS’d and photographed within the park.

This 3-mile hike on Garden Creek features one well-preserved still with three 1,000 gallon tanks. Continue up an unnamed creek to view several “barrel stills.”(Stone Mountain map.)
