LexNoir Foundation Scholarship Reception

The Clyde E. Bailey, Sr. Legal Scholarship Fund is sponsored by LexNoir Foundation.  Clyde E. Bailey, Sr. was a distinguished patent attorney at the Eastman Kodak Company, who served as the 61st president of the National Bar Association, the oldest and largest association of predominately African-American judges, lawyers and legal scholars in the United States.

As president of the National Bar Association, President Bailey worked tirelessly on behalf of black lawyers throughout the African Diaspora to build relationships and a mutual understanding of common issues and concerns. During his term as president, he also traveled extensively throughout southern Africa to forge relationships between black lawyers in South Africa, Botswana and the United States.

In honor of President Bailey's vision, LexNoir Foundation created a scholarship fund in his name to provide scholarships to black law students and others from historically disadvantaged communities who are interested in pursuing a career in international law.  To date, the fund has awarded scholarships to law students from South Africa and Canada.

Our special guests for the Scholarship Reception will be Mr. Ebrahim Rasool, the Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa, and Mr. Taswell Papier from the South African law firm of Edward Nathan Sonnenbergs. As part of the program for that evening, we will be extending a warm welcome to Ambassador Rasool as he begins his new post in the United States.  Others from the African diplomatic community are also expected to attend.

LexNoir Foundation is a non-profit corporation recognized as 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.  The Foundation serves as the charitable arm of LexNoir, an international network of lawyers connecting the African Diaspora.
