About Dr. Moore:
Don Moore, PhD, is a Professor of Medical Education and Administration in the Office of Health Sciences Education in the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.  He has been on faculty for 16 years and currently serves as the Director for Office for Continuing Professional Development and is the Director of Evaluation for the Office of Undergraduate Medical Education.  His extensive experience in the field of medical education assessment has been invaluable to the Curriculum 2.0 re-design in the School of Medicine.  He interfaces with both undergraduate and post-graduate learners in his roles and is passionate about the design of learning.  He interweaves educational theory into practical design of both educational strategies and outcome assessment measures. Dr. Moore has been actively involved in educational scholarship and has authored numerous publications.  He is known specifically for his expertise in continuing professional development through the redesign of post-graduate medical continuing education.His passion revolves around guiding educators to design educational strategies and learning opportunities using evidence from the literature to guide practice.  His approach to planning educational activities and teaching is based primarily on constructivist learning theory. Constructivism learning theory argues that people produce knowledge and form meaning based upon their personal experiences, whether those personal experiences be in the classroom, workplace, or life in general. In this model, the teacher becomes facilitator of a shared learning experience with the outcome in mind, rather than the delivery of knowledge as a commodity to be transferred by the teacher to the learner.
