Advancing Advocacy Training in Tribal Communities

Advancing Advocacy Training in Tribal Communities is the Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women's 40 Hour-Core Advocacy Training. Advancing Advocacy Training in Tribal Communities provides new domestic violence and sexual assault advocates and first responders with state certification. CSVANW aims to help first responders and domestic violence advocates work together effectively in times of crisis.

CSVANW's Advancing Advocacy Training in Tribal Communities is 1 of 2 state certified trainings for new domestic violence advocates. CSVANW aims to help New Mexico based domestic violence advocates and first responders to work together effectively in time of crisis.

The Advancing Advocacy Training in Tribal Communities is an introductory training designed for domestic violence advocates who are new to the position, this training is geared towards advocates who have been in their position less than 2 years.

In addition to obtaining a certificate of completion for this training, the first 40 registrants (New Mexico-based advocates) will receive a grey a hoodie and a $150 training stipend. Participants must attend ALL three days of the training to receive both training incentives. Attendance will be monitored by CSVANW staff, so please have your first and last name listed correctly on Zoom during the training.

Advocates will need access to a stable Internet connection to see the training material and be present virtually via Zoom. Call-ins by phone will not count toward the core advocacy certification. If you need access to a stable Internet connection, please email jholgate@csvanw.org  to assist you with accessibility options before the start of the training. Thank you!

CSVANW's service area is all of New Mexico, the Navajo Nation (northeastern Arizona), and Ysleta del Sur Pueblo in El Paso, Tx. If you are from out of this area and interested in the training, please contact us at 505-243-9199 or email at jholgate@csvanw.org so we can put you in touch with an organization in your region.
