Implications and Resources of Minors & Sex Trafficking
This training is intended for tribal, state and federal advocates, service providers, criminal justice professionals and leadership working in our New Mexico tribal communities. It will serve to enhance attendees' understanding of what minors in sex trafficking looks like in tribal communities, how to identify trafficking, implications of sex trafficking survivors and what's being done to address the problem. The training will include in-depth discussions of effective strategies for identifying and responding to our Native children who are being trafficked in our communities. Attendees will explore ways to improve response, coordination and resources at the tribal, state and federal level for native children.
Objectives:
- Identify the indicators of sex trafficking in Tribal Communities
- Responding to minor sex trafficking cases
- Tribal Notification - Indian Child Welfare Act
- Identifying sex trafficking online and learning of the dangers on social media.
- Learning about the medical services and response to and screening tool of a child who is impacted by trafficking
