The Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women (CSVANW) aims to provide space for training for representatives that work with offenders of domestic violence to engage in specific dialogue on some of the distinctive challenges that New Mexico tribal communities face regarding the legal, tribal and community responses to violence against women and the tribal programs that work directly with offend Offering expert facilitators and consultants, CSVANW's Integrated agenda demonstrates a committment to providing enhanced training on working with women who use violence.

The goals of this training are to:

  • Enhance the knowledge and understanding of service providers and advocates who work with Native women who use violence and gain a better understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence in tribal communities and how the effects of intergenerational trauma can still be seen today.
  • Provide participants with knowledge in offender accountability and how to engage women in best practices.
  • Strengthen coordination and collaboration among community stakeholders to form a more efficient coordinated community response.
  • Maximize the capacity and expertise of our service providers and advocates to support communities in improving accountability and improving outcomes for Native men who use violence and provide a forum to share best practices and learn from the experience of other tribal BIP providers.
