Fair Housing Training 2017 

Register to attend the 2017 Fair Housing seminar on Friday, October 20, featuring Vicki Sharp from The Sharp Solution.  We'll offer two sessions:

8:30-11:30 am:  Fair Housing for Office Teams
This session will provide a quick review of the 7 Federally protected classes, then will focus on communication with prospects and residents as well as team members.  We will talk about the need for specific documentation, and what to do when a claim is filed. Most importantly, we will talk about the newest issues including emotional support animals, and the new criminal background standards.  There will also be discussion about how a Fair Housing Case can become a Sexual Harassment Case.  Lastly, we will talk about a couple of real cases and their outcomes.

1:30-4:30 pm:  Fair Housing for Maintenance Teams
As with the office team training, we will provide an overview of the 7 Federally protected classes.  After that, we will focus all discussion from the maintenance point of view, to include make ready standards, how to prioritize and work the service orders, and how to talk to residents. We will also discuss the importance of detailed documentation from the Fair Housing and the collections of damages perspectives.  Additional discussion about how a Fair Housing claim can become a Sexual Harassment Claim as well.  Lastly, there will be a couple of examples of actual cases involving maintenance personnel.
