Clinical Data Management, Trends in US & The Emerging Markets. 

     Everyone associated with research today, clinical or basic, has to understand the concept of Clinical Data Management (CDM). CDM is a highly specialized branch that leads to generation of high quality, reliable, and statistically sound data from clinical trials and research studies. Why is that important?

Clinical trials are research studies that explore whether a medical strategy, treatment, or device is safe and effective for human use. Reproducibility of clinical research is absolutely essential and has to be submitted in the Summary of Clinical Efficacy Document to FDA for review before any drug/device gets approval for marketing.

Academic labs also have to adapt to more stringent data requirements. NIH now requires data sharing plans in large grants, statistical programming code and documentation.
