Established in 1995, AWIS NJ empowers and promotes women scientists through programs that facilitate career development, education, networking, leadership and entrepreneurial opportunities.

Each month we offer events that explore scientific content and career development, often in collaboration with regional organizations, companies, and universities whose missions align with this vision.

The AWIS NJ Annual Scholarship Competition offers cash grants to 3 applicants each year. Awards may be used for any purpose at any college, university, or other education institution. The Application Package includes an original Essay/Scientist Profile that requires potential scholarship recipients to reach out and interview one of the many thousands of female scientists who have a connection to New Jersey (live here, work here, studied here, etc).

"The Essay requirement will help applicants to make contact with a scientist who may inspire them, or help focus their interests. "Teachers, researchers, pharmaceutical scientists, engineers, mathematicians, software developers- all are potential profile subjects."

Who is eligible: Female high school seniors who reside in New Jersey (only), who are entering college, university, or any educational institution in the fall of 2013 and who are interested in studying any area of science. 

Application Deadline: April 30, 2013 (11 pm) - Winners will be announced May 31, 2013 via email
