Introduction to Ashtanga - A Three Part Series

w/ Jenifer Krause

Saturdays, May 2nd, 9th & 16th

1:30pm-3:30pm

$45 each class

$120 for all 3

Each class builds upon the previous one but also may be taken separately. These workshops will focus on finding strength and stability throughout the primary series who’s various postures are also repeated in most vinyasa classes. We will learn about what sets Ashtanga apart, a little philosophy, and a little about the physical & energetic body, where our blocks are, hyper mobility, injuries and alignment. No experience necessary. 

 

May 2nd

Intro to Ashtanga & The Standing Sequence. 

Discussion of the Tristana Method & the difference between a led class and the Mysore method. Led class: Sun Salutations A & B and the Standing sequence. Work and discussion with the postures to find strength and stability from the ground up. 

 

May 9th

First half of the Ashtanga Primary Series: Seated Poses & The Twists

Led class: First half of Primary Series

Work and discussion with the forward folds and the twists of the seated postures. Finding strength, stability and the benefits of the postures for health, grounding and the spine. 

 

 

May 16th

Ashtanga yoga & Backbending

Led class: First half of Primary series. 

Work and discussion on building a healthy backbend from the Primary series and Intermediate series. Why back bending is important for everyone and how to safely approach it from a beginners level all the way through to dropping back and standing up. 

 

 About Jenifer:

Jenifer is a Psychic & Medium, a Massage Therapist a Reiki Master and has an Associates degree in Photography. She is currently taking courses to be an Integrative Healing Arts Practitioner with focus on Holistic Nutrition, Hypnotherapy and Spiritual Coaching. 

Jenifer has been practicing Ashtanga yoga since 2013 and has studied with Manu Jois, David Swenson, Taylor Hunt & Meghan Kirk. She has used her knowledge and background of the physical and energetic body to help her become a better yoga teacher. She has used Ashtanga yoga to completely transform her life and loves to share it as a tool to help others to do the same. 

Jenifer lives in Philadelphia with her partner Anthony and has two children Harrison 11 and Regan 15.
