Building Quality Programs through Effective Leadership 

Directors will have the opportunity to address professionals in the field regarding issues they face every day including a conversation about professionalism in early childhood education, legal issues surrounding employment, a "check up" for ECE programs and a discussion of what leadership in this profession should look like. 

Workshop #1  Transforming the Workplace

Young children thrive and learn best when they have secure, positive relationships with adults who are knowledgeable about how to support their development and are responsive to their individual progress. This workshop will discuss the results of the 2015 report released by the National Academy of Medicine and the National Research Council, Transforming the Workforce for Children Birth Through Age 8 which offers guidance on system changes to improve the quality of professional practice, specific actions to improve professional learning systems and workforce development, and research to continue to build the knowledge base in ways that will directly advance and inform future actions. The recommendations of this report provide an opportunity to improve the quality of the care and the education that children receive, and ultimately improve outcomes for children.

Workshop # 2 Networking with others in the field

1 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Directors will have the opportunity to meet, mingle, and seek answers to questions related to all aspects of early childhood programs. Directors and professionals with years of experience in the field will be on hand to facilitate a discussion between participants regarding the issues most relevant to those in the group.

**Workshop #3: Time for a checkup? Assessing Your Program’s Health While Implementing the Change Process
