6 Sundays, (2 hour sessions), 5pm - 7pm
with Namory Keita, Moussa Traore or Issa Coulibaly
Begins Sunday, Sept. 27th to Nov 1, 2015
Namory is a very talented drummer from Sangbaralla, Guinea where he apprenticed with his uncle, the legendary Famoudou Konaté. Namory is known for his love of his village, his respect for traditional music, and his infectious smile and joy of life. The fact that he's a fabulous djembefola, generous teacher, and gracious host only adds to his charms! I know you will feel right at home with Namory.
Moussa Traore master drummer from Mali will be with us as possible. Moussa knows the real-deal stuff of Mali and is excellent with his teaching clarity and methods.
Issa Coulibaly master drummer from Mali is a very clear and warm teacher who I've worked and played with for years.
As with all DrumConnection instructors, I am so pleased to have them join our staff. To be able to present such a consistently high level of instruction makes all the hard work we do for you pay off especially for you, the students of the drum.
If you will join us on this 6-week drumming adventure, you are sure to have the time of your life studying the 'real deal' music. You will be filled with not only rhythm and history, but a joy that you will carry with you throughout the week and maybe your life!
Some weeks we may have special guest artists to be named later! Pretty exciting to offer Boston's only class like this anywhere.
Please bring an audio recorder and maybe a pen and paper. Bring your djembe. Dunun is optional, use one of ours!
Workshop size is limited to 15 people -- register early to make sure you get a space in the workshop!
If you have to miss a session, you may make it up in the next semester. This new policy is now in effect. It allows for vacations and such. It will only carry over into the next semester and only for one class.
Registration fee is $165.- (cash, check or credit card) We will send you a registration and confirmation email. Doors will open 15 minutes before class time.
