Beginners and Beyond!

with John Tracy

For thousands of years the drum has provided people with a powerful basic tool to communicate, express themselves, form community and profoundly integrate the senses.

This course will give you all the tools you'll need to really enjoy yourself playing your drum.  Our introduction to the rhythms of Brazil, Cuba, Guinea, Haiti, Mali, Senegal and Trinidad will allow us to experience the healing power of the drum and express our own voice. As you unleash your natural musical ability, you can experience joyous, ecstatic states of mind. This class is great for beginners as well as those who have taken a drumming class before and would like to refresh and continue building their drumming skills.

Plan on having a fun time learning the traditional rhythm for the djembe, conga and ashiko drums. You can learn to play simply for your own enjoyment, or to play with other musicians.  DrumConnection's team teaching approach provides individualized instruction, and challenges and excites your senses.  Bring your drum.

A few rental drums may be available from the instructor. Contact us at 781-316-8068 to reserve a rental drum for the class.  Rentals come with a waterproof carying bag, are full height African Drums and are made for us as leightweight drums. Easy to carry home each week. Rental cost for this semester will be $45.-. Just let us know if you need one before class.

A $5 materials fee, payable to the instructor, will cover the cost of the workbook and all written materials. Limited to 15.

$139.- for 8 Week Course
