Losar, the Tibetan New Year, is a time for renewal; a new beginning. To give Losar an auspicious start and to carry the blessings through out the year, join us in Losar Dharma activities.
On Losar itself, Tuesday, February 9th, the temple will be open all day. Prayers begin at 7am with a Smoke Offering, Prayer for World Peace and a short Dzambhala practice conducted by Spiritual Director Venerable Lama Konchok Sonam.
Bring Offerings and Pot Luck dishes to the temple until 3pm. Lama Sonam and sangha will make Tibetan and sweet tea and "kap say", a Tibetan treat. Socialize and enjoy!
Pre-Losar Preparations- Calling All Bodhisattvas!
Traditionally in Tibet, the three days before Losar are dedicated to a thorough cleaning of the shrine and the house. The temple will be doing its Losar cleaning on Wednesday 02/03, Thursday 02/04 and Friday 02/05. Lama Sonam asks that you come and help. Please call him directly at 617-642-0060 to schedule a time to stop by. This cleaning is not ordinary, it is Dharma practice. By participating, our own obscurations will also be cleansed.
On Sunday, February 14th at 11am there will be a special Prayer Flag Hanging Ceremony and Smoke Offering. Bring new prayer flags to be included in the blessing if you wish. Also, prayer flags will be available for purchase at the temple.
Saturday, March 5th is the wheel turning day Chotrul Düchen.
Yogi Acharya Lama Gursam will be teaching at the temple on this day. E Ma Ho!
Note: The first fifteen days of the year starting on the Sunday after Losar and ending on Chotrul Düchen celebrates the fifteen consecutive days that the Buddha displayed a different miracle to increase the merit and devotion of future disciples.
During this month, the effects of any action, either positive or negative, are multiplied 100,000 times.
On Chotrul Düchen, actions are multiplied 10,000,000 times. Therefore, Dharma practice is emphasised because hat one does at the beginning of the new year carries through out the year.
