Dr. Caruso was a private practitioner in Reproductive Medicine and an Assistant Professor in Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Chicago, before leaving the field of Reproductive Endocrinology in 2010, to practice medicine in line with the teachings of the Catholic Church. He is a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the Society for Reproductive Medicine and Infertility, the Society for Reproductive Surgeons, American Association for Gynecological Surgery, the International Institute for Restorative Reproductive Medicine, the Catholic Physicians Guild of Chicago, and the Catholic Medical Association.

He is board certified in Endocrinology and Metabolism, a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine, a fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), a fellow of the American College of Clinical Endiicrinology (FACE), an associate fellow of American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (FACOG), a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, and the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology and the Pacific Coast Reproductive Society. He has published over seven hundred fifty manuscripts in medical journals, and regularly presents his research at medical conferences worldwide.
