ABOUT THE EVENT

To honor the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War, a lecture series presenting Veterans and their experiences from all services and all phases of the War will be offered to the public. This event will feature local Vietnam Veterans, memorabilia, displays, and a guest speaker to recognize the contribution and sacrifices made by North Alabama Veterans and to help educate our young people about the Vietnam War. Guest speaker, Colonel Leo K. Thorsness will share a rare perspective on his experience as a prisoner of war for six years, and later recipient of the Medal of Honor, the Silver Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross with five Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Purple Heart with one Oak Leaf Cluster.
