A few weeks ago, the European Union has decided on the new type-approval legislation that will apply to a large number of electric bicycle types.
ETRA organises an information meeting on the new rules, with the participation of European Commission representatives. The meeting is aimed at technical and general management staff of any company active in the electric bicycle sector: electric bike manufacturers, battery and motor manufacturers, component manufacturers, imports, wholesalers, dealers, ... The meeting is also open to the press.
The preliminary agenda is as follows:
- 10.30 - 11.00: registration and welcoming of participants
- 11.00 - 12.00: presentation by Annick Roetynck, ETRA Secretary General on the New Type-Approval
and the implications of the new legislation for electric bicycles - Questions & Answers
- 12.00 - 13.00: type-approval, how does it work: presentation by Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Andreas Gerstner,
responsible for homogolation and certification of electric cycles at Tüv Süd.
His presentation will deal with the the legal, practical and administrative aspects of the
type--approval procedure - Questions & Answers
- 13.00 - 14.00: lunch
- 14.00 - 16.00: Mr Guido Gielen en Mr Peter Broertjes, policy advisors at the European Commission's
DG Enterprise and Industry, Directorate Automotive Industry will answer all participants'
questions on the new type-approval and electric bicycles.
- 16.00 - 17.00: any other business
