Common Core Standards:  How do these impact individuals with a language-based learning disability?

This session will provide an overview of the Common Core standards in relation to struggling readers, reviewing key components of the foundational skill instruction as well as close reading expectations. It will explore both the positive aspects of CCSS and important considerations necessary to assure that students with a reading disability are successful in this future school environment.

Wilson® Programs Overview and Discussion of the Common Core Standards

This session will identify and illustrate the common components of instruction in Fundations®, Just Words®, and the Wilson Reading System. It will highlight basic differences such as student populations and delivery models. Barbara will also provide an overview of the Common Core Standards in relation to struggling readers, including important considerations to assure student success with the new expectations.

 

Barbara Wilson is president of Wilson Language Training® Corporation and author of the Wilson Reading System®.  Barbara is recognized as a leader in the field of teaching reading and spelling and over the years has presented the topic of achieving literacy with struggling readers at more than 300 conferences, both in the U.S. and internationally.
