Retreat Description: I went on pilgrimages to the sacred sites of Ireland and then on another for two months through the sacred sites of Europe ending at Chartres Cathedral. I am  passionate to share how pilgrimages changed my world view and am discovering that using the basic principles of any pilgrimage around the world can enliven our lives. Benet Hill Monastery Grounds and forest are prefect for creating the "pilgrimage experience" with many pathways, and areas for silent contemplation and for sharing experiences. We will use the principles outlined in Christine Valters-Paintner's  book "The Soul of a Pilgrim: Eight practices for the Journey Within".

NOTE:Each participant is to bring a Backpack or day pack with the following items: a water bottle, walking shoes, a hat, rain gear, a journal book or pages, pen and colored pencils (I'll have extras), and YOUR LUNCH and MUNCHIES for the walks. Be ready for surprises! (If you can't walk in the woods, I'll have alternatives for you with the same goals and surprises.)

Facilitator: Sister Marilyn Carpenter, OSB, MRE, and MA Psych offeres over thirty years of experience as a board-certified chaplain with expertise in grief counseling, education and support. She is available through Benet Hill Monastery and her Denver Mission House for one-on-one, small group grief work and healing prayer sessions for grief trauma victims or unresolved grief issues.  She also has a degree in Liturgical, Sacramental and Pastoral Theology from St. Meinrad's School of Theology, Sister Marilyn employs her skills in creative rituals, retreats, and parish classes such as RCIA, Sacrament of Anointing, Pastoral Care of the Sick, and Healing Prayer Ministry.
