Saturday, July 28, 2018 9:00 am - 1:00 pm Fee: $ 65 (This retreat includes a moonlight walk on July 28. Time: 9:30pm)
Presenter: Sister Jan Ginzkey, OSB
Retreat Description: Walking a labyrinth is a lesser known part of the Christian tradition. Our outdoor labyrinth was created in 2001 by Sister Jan Ginzkey and 37 volunteeers and is based on the ancient, yet contemporary labyrinth design found in the Cathedral in Chartres, France.
The labyrinth is a metaphor of life. TWe did not smooth the ground or remove tress because life is not smooth and we meet obstacles along the way. You are invited to experience prayer in a new way by walking the labyrinth. Please join us for silent mediation and contemplation.
Sister Jan Ginzkey, OSB has managed the Monastery forest for over 30 years. Along with fire mitigation and the removing diseased trees she has learned to appreciate God's presence and peace in our forest. She has studied and learned about the sacred trees and is excited to share this knowledge. Sister Jan also helped to create the meditation paths and prayer sites throughout our property.
