 C.S. Lewis:  The Man and His Pen

 You are invited to join Rev.Dr. Randy Jessen for a day of immersion with C.S.Lewis!   Although Clive Staples Lewis was born in Belfast, Ireland; he lived his life as the ultimate English scholar in the halls of Oxford and the stone gardens of Cambridge. We will explore the flow of his life journey and the writings that brought him to the forefront of Christian conversation.His specialties included medieval English literature,Christian fantasy for children and popular apolgetics of the faith. 

His writings continue to be essential reading across the scope of Christianity. We will discover the uniqueness of his personal life and dig into some of his most significant writings to discover the secret of his popularity. His influence was significant through the vehicle of his own writing, but he also impacted the writings of J.R.R Tolkien as a member of the Oxford Inklings. We will discern how Lewis served as the 'mid-wife' to the Lord of the Rings series.  

An advance reading of Mere Christianity will assist you in getting acquainted with is thinking,his life story, and his style of communication. Other works by C.S. Lewis include: The Chronicles of Narnia, The Screwtape Letters, Surprised by Joy, and A Grief Observed.

Dr. Jessen is a United Methodist Pastor who serves as the Senior Pastor of the Parker United Methodist Church in Parker, Colorado. He teaches a course titled Spirituality of Leaders in the Doctor of Ministry program at Asbury Theological Seminary.
