Vapotherm, Inc. will host Dr. Alexandre Rotta of Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital for a presentation on the application of High Flow Therapy (HFT) for the treatment of RSV. High Flow Therapy is designed to provide gentle, effective respiratory support for bronchiolitis patients without masks.
Masks and large prong therapies may cause iatrogenic problems like skin breakdown around
the mouth and nares. Additionally, low flow oxygen may be comfortable, but often cannot meet the demands of higher acuity patients. Published studies on high flow nasal cannula and bronchiolitis patients suggest the therapy provides a safe, effective alternative to more invasive methods.
Dr. Rotta currently serves as the Chief of the Division of Pediatric Critical Care at the hospital. He is also a Professor of Pediatrics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
